The Fondation Toms Pauli will be displaying, for the first time in Lausanne, twenty masterpieces from its ancient tapestry collection most of which has not yet been viewed by the public. A number of very large-format pieces on show highlight magnificently the monumental nature of this art as well as its important role in wall decoration. The exhibition is also a reminder of the fact that historically, Flemish workshops excelled in tapestry-making techniques and could thus transpose into wool and silk the complex designs and immense range of colours visualised by the painters.
